Support
Questions, problems, and feature requests for the HearAura iPhone and Apple Watch app.
Contact us
Email support@hearaura.app. A person reads every message and replies, usually within two business days. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and hearing-aid or earbud brand if the question is about joining a broadcast; it saves a round trip.
Accessibility issues get priority. If any part of the app is hard to use with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, or another assistive technology, please say so in the subject line.
Common questions
Do I need special hardware?
To hear an Auracast broadcast you need LE Audio hearing aids or earbuds that support Auracast, and a venue or transmitter that is broadcasting. Without hardware you can still use the built-in demo (Listen tab → "Try the demo"), on-device captions, and Channels.
The app says it can't find my hearing aids.
- Pair the hearing aids with your iPhone first in Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices.
- Make sure Bluetooth is on and HearAura has Bluetooth permission (Settings → HearAura).
- Open the Listen tab and pull down to refresh.
- Use Settings → Device check inside the app: it lists what your aids expose and tells you whether they support Auracast at all. Some models need a firmware update from the manufacturer's own app first.
I joined a broadcast but hear nothing.
The phone never plays the broadcast; your hearing aids receive it directly from the venue transmitter. Check that the broadcast is actually on the air (ask the venue), that you are within range of the transmitter, and that broadcast volume in the app is up. If the venue uses an encrypted broadcast you need the code from the venue's QR sign.
Why does the app ask for Bluetooth, microphone, camera, or location?
Bluetooth talks to your hearing aids. The microphone and speech recognition power on-device captions and Channels. The camera only scans Auracast QR codes. Location sorts venues by distance. Each permission is optional and used only for the feature it names; the privacy policy has the details.
Volume from my Apple Watch stopped working when I locked the phone.
Update to HearAura 1.2 or later, which keeps the hearing-aid connection alive in the background. If the watch controls still do nothing, open HearAura on the phone once so the connection is re-established, and check that the watch app is installed and the phone is within range.
Captions look wrong or lag.
Microphone captions are approximate and depend on room noise and distance from the speaker. The Whisper engine (Captions tab picker) is more accurate but slower; the Apple engine is faster. Both run entirely on your phone.
How do I delete my data?
HearAura has no account and stores nothing about you on our servers. Deleting the app removes everything it saved on the phone. Anything you sent us by choice (an anonymous device-compatibility result or a diagnostics email) can be removed on request.
I run a venue. How do I broadcast to HearAura users?
Any Auracast transmitter works; HearAura is not tied to a brand. Use the venue portal to generate a print-ready "Scan to Listen" QR code for your broadcast, and email us to be listed in the venue directory.
Report a bug
Email support@hearaura.app with what you expected, what happened, and the steps to reproduce it. If the app crashed, Settings → Diagnostics inside the app shows the crash report iOS kept; use the share button there to attach it. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.
